Kaleidoscope Live 2006

Kaleidoscope Live 2006In just two weeks you have a great opportunity to help children in need by attending Kaleidoscope Live 2006. This event is a fish fry and auction set for Saturday, September 16 at the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock. On that night, along with the fish fry, we will auction donated items with a goal of raising $30,000 for Southern Christian Home.

You are probably acquainted with Southern Christian Home (SCH) in Morrilton. The home is a residential care facility for children ages 4 through 18. These children are placed at SCH either by family members, the State Department of Human Services, or the court system.

During its 80 years in existence, Southern Christian Home has cared for hundreds of children. As a non-profit organization, SCH survives on the generosity of people who care about what happens to these children.

The fish fry and silent auction will begin at 5:30. The live auction will begin at 7:00.

Please join us!!

The Blessing of Small Groups

Do you remember a time at UCC when you knew the names of every member? If you do, then you’ve been a part of this church for a long time. These days, many of us feel like we can’t keep up with which family just moved away and which one just moved to town. We look at the folks across the isle on Sunday morning wondering if they are visitors or members. It is hard to keep up!

This is a good problem to have. God is working in this place. He is providing many wonderful people to join in the work here. The difficulty of keeping up with all of the new people is an indicator that we are changing and growing. While this may at times be the source of some growing pains, it is better than the alternative.

In the midst of this growth, we want to make sure that all of our members are connected to the body in a healthy way. That is why we are going to spend time this morning encouraging you to be a part of a house church. The house church ministry is not perfect or the answer to all of our problems. But it is a positive and healthy way to ensure that our members are growing together in the Lord.

So, if you are not a part of one of our house churches, then you are officially invited! Please consider joining a house church today. On the left-hand column of our small groups page is a list of all of our house churches. Feel free to call a group leader or visit one of our groups.

Do not hesitate. There are many blessings and opportunities to bless others awaiting you. Please join a house church today!

Bible Classes this Sunday

Last Sunday’s bulletin had a mistake in it that needs to be corrected. It indicated that there would be no Bible classes this Sunday morning but that is not the case.

This will be promotion Sunday for our preschool through elementary children’s classes. They will meet in the auditorium with their parents at 9:00, so there will be no children’s classes.

The youth group and all adult classes will meet as they normally do. The adult class that meets in the auditorium will meet in the fellowship hall with the other class that normally meets there.

Guest Speaker Today

Romain and Nivo Rakotomalala, who work with the church in Madagascar, are visiting the Eichmanns for about 2 weeks. Romain is the preacher for the largest church in Antananarivo (Tana), the capital of Madagascar. He is a very successful preacher, having established several congregations across the country, and is a popular preacher on a nation-wide radio program.

They are en route to the McKnight Road Church of Christ, which is their sponsoring congregation, where they will spend another two weeks before returning to Madagascar.

Romain will be speaking for us today, and we hope that many of you will get to meet them. We are very happy that they are able to spend some time here, and to get to know you. They have already learned what a warm, friendly family UCC is!
