Report from the Ukhta Church of Christ for June 2004
Dear brothers and sisters in the University Church of Christ,
I want to thank you so much for your invaluable support and prayers
about our work in the Ukhta Church of Christ!
In June, our congregation had a regular life. Two girls, who came to
the Church of Christ while they were teenagers, have graduated from
the university with all "A's". Their names are: Olga Rocheva (she
finished the Teachers University) and Olga Zaikina (she graduated
with a degree in Accounting).
Two young members of the church, Stas Sorokin and Nadya Bochkareva,
were sent by the church to a singing festival of the churches of
Christ in Moscow.
The church has bought cups, spoons, plates, and other kitchen
utensils; sugar, cooking oil and cereal for Sergei Koryakin and other
patients in the drug rehab program. This program was recently
established about 70 km from Ukhta. After a breakdown in May, Sergei
decided to go voluntarily for treatment for one year. His mother,
Olga, is now undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy following surgery wherein cancerous cells were removed.
In June, a five-day VBS was held. Twenty-eight children attended
consistently. It lasted from 9-5 daily. Children were fed twice;
every child was given a tee-shirt that read "Christian School -
2004".
The church had to spend unplanned expenses because the government
electrical department forced the church to purchase and install new
electrical meters.
I was a little upset by the brothers' lack of enthusiasm to repair
the leaking roof. They are forfeiting the good weather wherein they
could use to make the needed repairs. Our climate does not allow much
time for this kind of job.
In July, I will join them to do this and other kinds of deeds in the
church. I can't wait to return to Ukhta. Every time I hope that some
of you will join my trip.
Pray for us, just as we are praying and thanking God for you.
With Christian Love,
Vladimir and Muza
Ukhta Church of Christ
